This Privacy Policy describes how nudg-e.com ("we", "us", "nudg-e") collects, uses, and handles your information when you use our SMS-based accountability service.

Information we collect

Account information: your email address, display name, and (if you sign in with Google) your Google account ID and profile picture.
Phone number: provided by you for the purpose of receiving and sending SMS, and verified via a 6-digit code.
Task and accountability data: tasks you create, scheduled check-in times, task status (pending, completed, missed), and accountability partners you add.
SMS records: a log of messages we send to you, messages you send to us, and delivery status reported by our carrier.
Consent records: when you opted in (via web signup or SMS), the exact consent language shown, your IP address, and user agent — stored for carrier audit compliance.
Product analytics: page views, button clicks, and in-app events (e.g., task created, message received). We use PostHog. Phone numbers are hashed before being sent to analytics; message bodies are never sent.

How we use your information

To deliver SMS check-ins, reminders, and accountability notifications you or your accountability partners requested.
To operate your account: authenticate you, save your tasks, and maintain your accountability partner relationships.
To comply with carrier requirements and respond to opt-out requests.
To improve the product by analyzing aggregate usage patterns.

SMS — how it works

By signing up with a phone number and checking the consent box, you agree to receive recurring SMS/MMS messages from nudg-e at the number you provided. Message frequency varies based on the tasks you create. Message and data rates may apply from your carrier.

You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message. After opting out, we will not send you further messages except a one-time confirmation of your opt-out. Reply HELP for support information.

If you add an accountability partner, we will send them a one-time invitation message asking them to confirm. They must reply YES to opt in before we send any further messages. They can reply STOP to decline.

Sharing your information

We do not sell or share your personal information, including your phone number, with third parties for marketing purposes. Consent information will not be shared with third parties for any reason.

We do share information with the following service providers strictly to operate the service:

Twilio — for SMS delivery.
Google — if you choose Google Sign-In, for authentication only.
PostHog — for product analytics (hashed identifiers only, no message content or raw phone numbers).

We may also disclose information if required by law, valid legal process, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

Your accountability partners

When you add an accountability partner, we share limited information with them via SMS: your display name and the title of the task they are assigned to. They do not receive your email address, phone number, or other account details.

Data retention

We retain your account and task data for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing liam@nudg-e.com. SMS consent logs are retained in accordance with carrier compliance requirements (typically four years).

Security

Passwords are hashed using bcrypt. Sessions are transmitted over HTTPS and stored server-side. Verification codes are hashed and expire after 10 minutes. We take reasonable precautions to protect your information but cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your rights

Access, correction, or deletion of your account data — email liam@nudg-e.com.
Opt out of SMS at any time by replying STOP.
Opt out of analytics tracking in your browser's privacy settings.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes. For material changes, we will notify you via email or SMS.
